Black Politics and
Black Political Science

The Black Political Experience

One of the fundamental features of the study of politics at Clark Atlanta University and its parent institutions, has been a duality that sits at the heart of our programs. We take seriously the commitment  as well as the responsibility to cover the waterfront of the discipline of Political Science. As reflected in our comprehensive subfields and specialization, student and faculty comfortably develop research projects in all of the traditional areas of political inquiry. Our department is equally  committed to the study of politics from the perspectives and experiences of Black people and communities. This part of our tradition is grounded in the assumption that political inquiry - ontological, epistemological and methodological - begins from the standpoint we occupy.
