Prioritizing Student Research, Conference Presentations & Publishing
The development and presentation of research is a vital part of the student experience and occurs in course research projects, in the capstones, in special departmental programs, at the Departmental Seminar, at political science conferences and meetings, and other settings. In each of our degree programs (B.A., M.A., and Ph.D.), and at every level of the matriculation process, student are encouraged to not only conduct research projects in the discipline, but to also present research proposal, findings and experiences at multiple venues. The Department, for example, typically participates in the annual meetings of the National Conference of Black Political Scientists, the Walter Rodney Symposium, the African Heritage Studies Association, and other international Conferences such as the Caribbean Studies Association and the HBCU Africa Education Coalition.
