Bio:

Dr. Frank A. Abumere is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science, Clark Atlanta University (CAU). Dr. Abumere studied philosophy at Arrupe Jesuit University and the University of London. He received a PhD from the Department of Political Science, LUISS University (Rome) and a Dr Phil. from Bielefeld University, Germany. His research interests cut across Black political thought, comparative political theory and African international politics. He was a visitor at the University of Richmond (Virginia) and the University of Montreal (Quebec).

Prior to his North American experience, Dr Abumere worked in Europe and Africa. He was a Visiting Professor at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University (Milan), a Senior Member of St Antony’s College, University of Oxford and an Academic Visitor at the African Studies Centre, Oxford School of Global and Area Studies, University of Oxford. He was also a visitor at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). 

Dr. Abumere latest book, Decolonization and Postcolonial Migration: Citizenship and Empire will be published by Edinburgh University Press in September 2025.  His previous books include: Africa and the Metaphysical Empire (Routledge, 2025); African Identities and International Politics (Routledge, 2023); Normativity in African Regional Relations (Rowman and Littlefield, 2023); Migration from Nigeria and the Future of Global Security (Palgrave MacMillan, 2023 – with J.S. Sanni); Global Justice and Resource Curse: Combining Statism and Cosmopolitanism (Routledge, 2022);  and a co-edited volume with E-S Essien, African Political and Economic Philosophy with Africapitalism: Concepts for African Leadership (Lexington Books, 2024).
